Firefighters on the Roof
Thursday, April 16, 2009

On Monday, Rocky Mount firefighters helped with an unusual fundraiser for the Nash County Relay for Life.  Firefighters had to raise $100 from family, friends, or Chick-fil-A customers to be let down off the roof of Chick-Fil-A at Cobb Corners.  Click here to view a slideshow of pictures from the fundraiser (courtesy of the Rocky Mount Telegram).

Several city employees volunteer their time and resources for the annual Relay for Life fundraisers, which benefit the American Cancer Society.

As we all know, our nation is experiencing an economic recession of considerable significance. The economic downturn affects us all in some way, and local governments are no exception. Your city leaders and staff are working diligently to track the recovery efforts originating in Washington; in turn, we intend to keep citizens aware of how these federal dollars make their way to Rocky Mount.

National Telecommunicators Week
Tuesday, April 14, 2009

The City of Rocky Mount salutes our hard working telecommunicators during "National Telecommunicators Week"!  Telecommunicators work around the clock to assist fire & police personnel in responding to the needs & concerns of our community.  They provide helpful information to residents in times of distress, and are often the unsung heroes of public safety.

Telecommunicators are valuable members of our city family of employees.  We thank them for all that they do!
