| Shearin Andrews Road Closure Tuesday, May 11, 2010 |
Shearin Andrews Road will be closed to traffic effective Tuesday, May 11 for a culvert replacement by Rocky Mount Stormwater Management. The road will be closed to all but local traffic for the duration of the project, which is expected to be completed by mid-June. When this project is completed, crews will perform similar work on Nicodemus Mile Road, requiring closure of that road for a similar timeframe. The culvert replacements will help alleviate drainage issues in these areas. To learn more about the City of Rocky Mount's Stormwater Management Program, visit this page. |

Could we find you in an emergency? Is your street address number displayed on your home or business property, If not, post your assigned physical street address number right away. Your address number should be posted and clearly visible from the street so that emergency responders can easily find you in case of an emergency. Contrary to what you may have heard, 911 cannot always locate you immediately when calling from a cell phone. Know the location you are calling from, teach address information to children, and always know what street you are on when traveling. Knowing your location can save a life, possibly YOURS! |
| keep an eye on waterways! Monday, March 29, 2010 |
| The Rocky Mount area has received a significant amount of rainfall in a short timeframe. Area creeks & rivers are swollen, and low-lying areas are experiencing some flooding. If your property is near a creek or river, note that some flooding will occur with heavy rains. If you encounter a street with standing water, do not attempt to drive through. The saying is: turn around, don't drown. |
