Last chance for loose leaf collection until November

The city of Rocky Mount Public Works and Water Resources Department is offering loose leaf collection for the North route the week of April 17 and for the South route the week of April 24. This will be the last time loose leaf collection is offered until November.

When participating in loose leaf collection, please remember the following: Do not rake leaves or yard waste into the curb or street; please rake your leaves to the curb no later than Monday morning at 7 a.m. of your collection week to guarantee removal. Crews will pass by each house on the route once during the designated weeks. Collection is not necessarily on the resident's regular solid waste collection day. Also, note that loose leaf collection is for leaves and pine straw only. All loose leaf piles must be free of trash, sticks, limbs, bottles, cans and other debris. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this service.

“The ability to bring these leaves to the street for collection without bagging the material is intended to make the removal of loose leaves as convenient as possible for our residents,” says Jonathan Boone, director of Public Works and Water Resources.
