The City of Rocky Mount will host the 4th annual Rocky Mount Fun Bike Ride on Saturday, May 13, 2017. For details call Bob League (972--1129).
In March the Board of Transportation awarded a Bicycle Planning grant to the City of Rocky Mount. NCDOT will administer the project in conjunction with City staff and a consultant.
The MPO will seek a consultant to work with staff members to develop a new long-range transportation plan. The MTP 2045 is scheduled for adoption in May 2018.
The Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) will conduct a public hearing for the Draft STIP 2018-2027 at its May 15, 2017 meeting. The NC Board of Transportation will adopt the STIP in June 2017.
The development of the STIP 2020-2029 has begun with the Prioritization P5.0 process. The TAC will submit in September new projects for STIP consideration.
Road construction activity will increase dramatically in Rocky Mount following the letting of several projects this year. The Wesleyan Blvd project will let May 16, Hunter Hill Road is scheduled to let on June 20, and the let date for Springfield Road is August 15.
