Fun Bike Ride

The sixth annual Rocky Mount Fun Bike Ride takes off on Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m. at Sunset Park. Ending where it begins, the 6.5-mile route will take riders through four national historic districts, downtown and the Tar River Trail. Also, a Bike Rodeo for younger children will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The rodeo teaches safe riding practices to those learning to ride.

Participants will have an opportunity to experience some of the beautiful scenery Rocky Mount has to offer. It’s also a way for the community to celebrate National Bike Month, which takes place in May.

Riders will be provided a map and given police escorts during the ride.

The ride is free and open to riders of all ages. All riders are required to wear a helmet, and youth must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Pre-registration is requested. Riders should check in by 9:30 a.m.

For more information, call 252-972-1129, or email bob.league@rockymountnc.gov. To register for the Rocky Mount Fun Bike Ride and for a map of the routes, visit rockymountnc.gov/bike. All pre-registered riders will receive a free hotdog lunch.

Please note that a long ride route and map are available for a more seasoned veteran group of cyclists. The ride is longer for this group and is without a police escort.
