Accounting

The Accounting Division of the Finance Department is responsible for recording and reporting the City’s financial activities, processing of payroll and accounts payable, and the billing of property taxes and miscellaneous revenues. Office Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. We are closed on City of Rocky Mount government holidays.

Key functions are:

    • Operation of the City’s financial information system and accounting records, including general ledger, travel, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
    • Timely reporting on the City’s operational results along with special reporting on grants and preparation of the City of Rocky Mount’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
    • Coordination of the annual audit conducted by external certified public accountants and periodic grant audits conducted by grantors.
    • Development and implementation of City accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
