Chief's Welcome

To the Citizens of Rocky Mount and Website Visitors:

As your Police Chief, please be assured that our aim is to deliver professional law enforcement services that are customer focused and sensitive to the needs of the community. We adhere to our core values of Integrity, Professionalism, Respect and Fairness. These values along with our Rules of Conduct and Duty provide greater clarity to acceptable and unacceptable behavior that support or detract from our goal of exceptional and high quality services. We understand that building, cultivating and maintaining the community's trust is a key element in crime reduction in our city. Through our new police district concept we have means to work closer with the community groups, citizens and to establish accountability measures internally. Additionally, we enjoy a strong regional team approach to combating crime with area law enforcement agencies in Nash and Edgecombe Counties.

We encourage and enjoy interactions with the community through volunteer programs, Citizens Police Academy, Junior Police Academy, Explorers Post Program, Community Watch and other community outreach programs. We encourage you to determine which program is best suited for your particular need and join us as we strive to make our city one of the safest in North Carolina. If interested in becoming a volunteer or in our programs, please contact our Community Services Supervisor, Yvette Jones, at (252) 972-1436.

I remain excited about our department and our community. Together we can make a positive difference and I encourage you to partner with us on this journey! We always value quality law enforcement personnel, cooperation and teamwork. Our staff is dedicated, committed and prepared to serve you. Our department also offers an exceptional employment opportunity. If you are interested in a career in Law Enforcement, contact Corporal Rick Miller, our Recruitment Specialist, at (252) 972-1434.
