Community Garden

The Happy Hill Community Garden is individual or shared plots of land attended to by the citizens of Rocky Mount. The garden serves as a catalyst for bringing people together and improving the overall sense of community. The garden hosts multiple water supplies, regular and special needs gardening beds, a storage shed, shelter, compost area and a mulch pile. The location is 1208 Gay Street.

Goals of the Community Garden:

    • To provide the citizens of the City of Rocky Mount the opportunity to grow their own vegetables
    • To encourage the citizens of Rocky Mount to increase their physical activity
    • To foster and maintain a sense of community between users of the community garden

How You Can Get Involved:

    • Rent a Plot
    • Volunteer to help in the garden
    • Make a donation

City of Rocky Mount Parks Maintenance staff will be available to assist the general public and the Parks and Recreation Department will provide mulch, some tools, and water. Garden tenants are responsible for providing seeds, weeding and plot maintenance.

Plot Fees:

    • 1st Plot Rented – $15.00
    • 2nd Plot Rented – $10.00
