City of Rocky Mount Announces Upcoming Launch of Free Public Wi-Fi in Downtown

Stay connected with your loved ones and share the beauty of Rocky Mount as the city launches free Wi-Fi downtown in June 2024.

Connect Rocky Mount is a convenient service that allows you to explore downtown and share your experiences with ease.

Stay Connected!

This effort is another way the city is working to create a more digitally connected community, beginning with the downtown area.

Visitors are encouraged to explore all that downtown offers and share their encounters on social media.

Start your downtown adventure at the Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences.

Immerse yourself in the stunning art exhibits, interact with the latest displays in the Children’s Museum and Science Center, take a selfie with one of the inhabitants of our animal gallery, and share these moments with your friends and family.

From the Imperial Centre, taking a leisurely walk to the Event Center brings with it endless possibilities. Whether you’re a sports enthusiast, a music lover, a partygoer, or an adventure seeker, the Event Center has something for everyone. From sporting events and concerts to wedding receptions and birthday parties to climbing indoor rock walls and playing arcade games, there’s never a dull moment in downtown Rocky Mount.

On your journey, take a stroll down Main Street and share a picture of your tasty treat from a local establishment. Use your TikTok feed to ask for opinions on what outfit to buy from one of the many clothing sores. Soak up the rich cultural history while walking around the Douglas Block, and share your visit the historic Booker T. Theater.

Your final stop on the downtown tour is the Helen P. Gay Rocky Mount Historic Train Station, which would not be complete without a visit the Rocky Mount Railroad Museum.

Remember to take a selfie with a miniature train.

Connect Rocky Mount Wi-Fi is an incredible tool, both for exploration and everyday use. Students at Edgecombe Community College can take a break from their studies and stay online while absorbing the area’s ambiance. Families with school-aged children can stop for an afternoon snack, all while staying connected to classroom and homework apps.

Visit, explore, and experience downtown Rocky Mount, all while staying connected.
