Urgent Repair
The city of Rocky Mount offers up to $15,000 in funding to assist with the rehabilitation of deteriorated homes that are owned and occupied by very low-income households.
The goals of the Urgent Repair Program are:

- To alleviate housing conditions which pose an imminent threat to the life or safety of very low-income homeowners with special needs
- To provide accessibility modifications and other repairs necessary to prevent the imminent displacement of very low-income homeowners with special accessibility needs, such as frail elderly and persons with disabilities.
Eligibility criteria: Residents earning less than 50% of Area Median Income who own and live in a single-family residence within the city limits of Rocky Mount.

Workforce Housing Repair
In an effort to promote neighborhood stability and preserve the existing supply of single-family homes, the city of Rocky Mount offers up to $15,000 to eligible workforce housing households for rehabilitation improvements of houses that are at least 40 years old.
Eligible repairs:

- Energy efficiency improvements (replacement windows and doors)
- System upgrades (i.e. plumbing, electrical and HVAC)Roof repair and/or replacement and gutters
- Water heater replacement
- Lead, mold, and asbestos abatement/remediation
- Accessibility features for entering and existing the home (i.e. wheelchair ramps, stair rails) and grab bars in bathrooms.
- Installing smoke alarms
If the property is under the minimum housing code, the scope of work must satisfy all code violations
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants earning between 80% and 125% of Area Median Income must own and reside in home as primary residence. Home must be at least 40 year old and within the city limits of Rocky Mount. Provide written evidence of insurance coverage for liability, casualty, and flood damage (if located in flood zone). Be current on city and county taxes; current on payment of utility bills from the City; and have no liens against the property for weed abatement or improvements.

Housing Repair
The city of Rocky Mount offers grants of up to $15,000 to eligible homeowners for rehabilitation improvements for houses at least 40 years old
The goal of the Housing Repair Program is to promote neighborhood stability and preserve the existing supply of single-family homes by assisting moderate income homeowners with repairs to their homes.
Eligible repairs:
a) Energy efficiency improvements (replacement windows and doors)
b) System upgrades (i.e. plumbing, electrical and HVAC)
c) Roof repair and/or replacement and gutters
d) Water heater replacement
e) Lead, mold, and asbestos abatement/remediation
f) Accessibility features for entering and existing the home (i.e. wheelchair ramps, stair rails) and grab bars in bathrooms.
g) Installing smoke alarms
h) If the property is under the minimum housing code, the scope of work must satisfy all code violations.
Eligibility criteria:
Residents earning up to 80% of Area Median Income who own and live in a home within the city limits of Rocky Mount that is at least 40 years old. Applications must be current on property taxes for the home being assisted. They also must have liability and casualty insurance and also flood insurance if in a floodplain area.
Application Period:
There is a temporary suspension because of an overflow of housing repair applications during the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
Funding Sources:

City of Rocky Mount: $175,000

Housing Rehabilitation Matching Rebate Program
The city of Rocky Mount’s Housing Rehabilitation Program offers 50/50 matching rebates of up to $15,000 to help homeowners with the repair and rehabilitation of homes that are at least 40 years old.
The program aims to stabilize and preserve distressed residential dwellings throughout the city.
Eligible repairs
- Energy Efficiency Improvements (replacement windows and doors)
- Siding repair and/or replacement
- System upgrades (i.e. plumbing, electrical and HVAC)
- Roof repair and/or replacement
- Water heater replacement
- Lead, mold, or asbestos abatement
- Exterior painting
- Accessibility features for entering and exiting the home (i.e. wheelchair ramps, stair rails)
- Landscaping (removal of and/or planting of trees and shrubs
Eligibility criteria: Residents must own single-family residence or duplex within city limits of Rocky Mount that is at least 40 years old. No income limit but must be current on city and county property taxes and have liability and casualty insurance and also flood insurance in in a floodplain.
