How Do I Get Involved?

The City of Rocky Mount has initiated a process that will develop a new Comprehensive Plan for the community. This plan will establish a vision for the City’s future and a roadmap for how to achieve that vision.

Beginning in May 2024, the public will be invited to share their aspirations for Rocky Mount’s future. Members of the community will have multiple opportunities to share their experiences and help build the vision for our community. A project website, which will include project timelines, updates, and information about opportunities for engagement, is currently in development.

What is a Comprehensive Plan?

A Comprehensive Plan is a roadmap for the future. It establishes a long-term vision for the city’s future, shaped by public input and shared values, and identifies goals, policies, and implementation strategies for achieving the vision.

The Comprehensive Plan will integrate land use, development patterns, transportation, housing, economic development, and other topics impacting the quality of life in our community.

How Will the Comprehensive Plan be Used?

Once adopted, the Comprehensive Plan will be used by city staff and elected officials when reviewing changes to the land development code, considering rezoning requests, identifying capital improvement projects, and developing new policies.
