Down Payment Assistance Program
Thinking about buying your first home? The City of Rocky Mount offers a program, the Down Payment Assistance Program, that can help you achieve your dream of homeownership. The Rocky Mount Housing Authority administers the program and provides assistance for eligible families.
Available Assistance
The Down Payment Assistance Program helps first-time, low-income homebuyers purchase homes in the City of Rocky Mount by providing deferred payment loans up to $25,000 to cover the down payment, closing cost, upfront mortgage premium insurance cost and gap financing.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a first-time homebuyer (cannot have owned a home in the last 3 years)
- Occupy the home as a primary residence
- Complete a HUD approved 8-hour homebuyer education course conducted by the Rocky Mount Housing Authority or a HUD certified approved counseling agency
- Have a household income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income
Property Guidelines
- Home must be located within the city limits
- New or existing single-family residences or duplexes
