Down East Senior Games

The Down East Senior Games (DESG) is composed of five counties: Nash, Wilson, Edgecombe, Halifax, and North Hampton. DESG was established in 1983 with a vision to create a year-round health promotion and wellness education program for adults 50 years of age and better. Participants will compete in their own age and sex categories in increments of five years. (Example: 50-54 is one age category and 80-84 is another.)
Events take place in Rocky Mount, Tarboro, and Wilson, North Carolina. The event categories in which seniors may choose to compete are sports, literary arts, performing arts, visual arts, and heritage arts. Our annual games start in late April and end in the middle of May. Below you will find more information on events, registration, volunteering and donating. Be sure to follow us on Facebook!
HYBRID Senior Games
February 1st begins registration for our 2022 Down East Senior Games! Registration- $20.00 February 1 – April 1, 2022. Make all checks payable to City of Rocky Mount
For the second year in a row, Down East Senior Games is taking the HYBRID approach to our 2022 Senior Games. The idea behind our Hybrid Games is that you can participate in DESG completely on your own, while also having the option to participate in person for some events.
We be offering most sports games in-person & this year Silver Arts will have the option to be in person. If individuals choose to participate in person, everyone must be prepared to follow the NC COVID-19 guidelines in place for outdoor gatherings & any indoor guidelines or requirements of the facilities being utilized. DESG will be making the safety of the participants and staff our number one priority. Unfortunately, not all sports can be offered & the following have been cancelled for 2022: Badminton & Table Tennis. SilverArts participants will have two options to turn in their work, at a designated in person drop off or by emailing in pictures/videos of their entries.
